How to become a Public Image Model
The first step is to complete the application form on our website & submit two clear photos of yourself for our review. A CLEAR close up face shot plus a full length colour shot which need not be professionally done, no make up or very soft natural make up is best. Together with the photos we need the following metric measurements & info.
Female:
Height, bust, waist, dress & trouser size, hips, shoe, hair & eye colour
Male:
Height, chest, waist, collar, shoe, suit size, hair & eye colour
Tell us if you have any Experience in acting, modelling or beauty competitions & whether you have done photographic modelling or fashion shows or any stage work?
- Also tell us if you have any talents and sports abilities.
- We want to know whether you can sing, dance or act or perhaps you play a musical instument or speak several languages.
- Tell us which sports you are reasonably good at or perhaps are knowledgable about because you played them when you were younger.
- We also need to know your age, occupation and preferably cell phone number.
- And even if you have no special talents or sporting ability your look and personality could be strong enough to be acceptable to us
All the above information is important to us as its not always only about being good looking its also about having the personality or acting ability to pull off a performance. Often someone who is not the most beautiful person physically but who has a strong personality or who really wants to do this sort of work would be selected rather than a stunningly beautiful person who has no spark. Also talents like being able to sing, dance, or speak another language are advantageous to being accepted onto our books and landing a part in a commercial.
On receiving this information plus photos from you, we will review your look, measurements & talents and if positive we will contact you & arrange an interview. If your interview is successful arrangements will be made for you to have a professional shoot. This decision is made based on demand for your age, talent and look .... If we feel that you are not suitable for us we will tell you and perhaps refer you to another agency that you are more suited to but we will not take you on if we have any doubts about your ability or look.
What we do
We supply suitable people/models to production companies, advertising agencies, magazines and basically anyone needing a model for advertising purposes. We supply models for TV commercials as well as fashion & beauty editorials for magazines and also catalogue, photo library and music videos. Our clients are local and international and our busiest times are the summer months.
What type of people do we look for?
Public Image Models represent all types of people, people of all shapes and sizes, ages and races, people from all walks of life. Students or professionals our artists are all part timers with us and have to make themselves available to attend castings in Cape Town central during normal office hours i.e. Have a flexible time schedule at your day to day job. Beautiful people are always in demand but character people with an acting ability or an outgoing personality are as much in demand. Twenty five to thirty five year old males and females are always in short supply so if you are a stay at home Mum or Dad perhaps looking for extra income and can make yourself available for castings during normal office hours then please contact us. During our busy summer season castings are held over weekends, in the evenings and during the week so anyone with a flexi time occupation is suitable for this type of work.
Generally we look for spunky, fun loving, outgoing people who have transport and time and who are responsible.
What is the procedure once I am accepted onto Public Image's books?
You will be expected to supply us with professional recently taken photos of yourself or we will arrange a photo shoot with you at the agency. The cost of such a shoot will range between R250 - R500 depending on how many looks are required. It is important to have good photographs as these are the tools of the trade and basically the better your photos are the better your chances are of being requested to cast. Your photographs will be loaded onto our website and circulated amongst our casting agents & some prints will be made for internal office use and we will immediately start to interest clients in your look and send you off to castings.
What is expected of me as a Public Image Model?
1. You will be expected to behave in a professional manner at all castings & shoots.
2. Being professional means always being on time & if delayed call us at the agency so we can inform our client.
3. Always dress the part as per your brief when attending castings.
4. Never disclose the storey board of any shoot to anyone prior to the commercial airing as you will be disclosing the clients marketing pitch and this could land you in serious trouble.
5. Always be honest about all other products that you have advertised especially those that are still airing.
6. Know and have your actual measurements with you at all castings.
You will be expected to attend all castings that you accept from us and obviously the more you attend the better your chances of landing a part. However there will always be one or two that you are not able to attend and you are expected to inform us of your non attendance and attendance immediately. Do not attend a casting if you are not going to be available on the shoot date, but do call us to discuss this before you say no to a casting.
When we offer you a casting you will be given all details pertaining to the shoot like where, when, dates of shoot, time of casting, what to wear, fee etc. etc. plus a brief of the part that you are casting for and most importantly the product you are going to advertise if you get the part. You are expected to have a diary and to enter all info, Dates/fees to avoid disputes. You are also expected to arrive on time dressed as briefed and knowing what product you are casting for plus which products you have already advertised.
